I have chosen LiFE for my work experience because I didn’t want to sit at a counter all day and do nothing and I knew that if I chose LiFE as my work experience placement it would be much more interesting because I would get to know how different departments in the company operate.

On the first day I was very nervous and had no idea what I was going to do. But once I’ve started the work experience, I have realized that the people are nice and answer all my questions. It is a lot of information about the company and different job roles to take in and understand.

During the two weeks I’ve spent time with IT, Marketing, Lettings, Accounts and Property Management teams. Since I am interested in computers and programming, I was mostly asked to do tasks on computers, like entering information, or processing work orders. I spent most of my time asking questions, listening and watching at what the staff at LiFE did daily.

At the Accounts department I’ve learned that it’s important to be good at math’s and how one small mistake could lead to bigger issues. Property Management team has taught me aspects of the property software LiFE uses and I’ve also learned how to do an inventory check. At the Marketing I helped in photoshop some pictures and learned what programs they use, gave ideas for the property video and learned what equipment photographers and videographers use.

My favourite department was IT, because I am interested in computers and they taught me things I didn’t know before: how a datacentre works or what checks the IT department do every morning to make sure that the system is working properly.

My least favourite department was lettings, because it was slow day with inquiries, so I just helped to put together welcome packs for tenants.  And, seriously, they even must come to work on Saturdays!

During the work experience, I didn’t like the city transport - it just takes so long to get home: one hour to LiFE and one hour back. But overall this was a great work experience as everyone were friendly and nice. I learned a lot about work and I am happy I’ve chosen LiFE Residential.
