The picturesque scenery of Richmond Park, located in South West London, provided the perfect backdrop for Descente's London Duathlon 2019 - the world’s biggest run-bike-run event, which attracted thousands of particpants in the beginning of September. 30 LiFE Residential and our close partner's, City & Docklands staff competed in the relay race - a 10 km run, 44 km cycle and 5 km run, split between 3 team members - all for a charity close to our hearts, Norwood.
Norwood help families with children with disabilities, whether it’s giving the parents some time to relax knowing their children are in safe hands, or providing families with fun activities and holidays together and for them all create long lasting memories. We wanted to raise as much money as possible to help the team at Norwood, so that’s what we did with the help of our staff and business partners.
Our initial target was £3,000, today, donations stand at £4,741.43, 58% more than our initial target - a truly heroic effort by everyone involved.
Thank you to everyone who has donated to the cause already, every one of us at LiFE truly appreciates your support. If you're interested in the work Norwood do and would like to donate, you can still do so here.
It was a courageous performance by all with everything left on the field, personal bests were smashed, self-doubt was conquered, but ultimately it was the super Team 8, Felicity, Peter and Neeta, who came out top with a time of 2:57:28, leaving the other 9 teams to wonder what could have been...
Amongst the sore legs and fatigue, the whole day was a humbling experience, it was never about winning, it was the teamwork, comradery, and support for Norwood that our staff will take away from the experience.
